One might call it pregnancy hormones, but I have been feeling ultra emotional lately. It doesn't take much to make me burst into tears these days.
My poor husband.
There are so many things I love about blogging. I love how it puts the fun back into journeling. One of my favorite things about it has also been how it has allowed me to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. I'm almost embarrased to admit that I have around 80 blogs on my google reader account. I don't really even know about 1/3 of those people. I guess I'm just nosey.
I love people. I love having a glimpse into their everyday lives and I love feeling like I'm not in this alone. I rejoice with perfect strangers when I see their achievements and I am saddened when I see their struggles. I feel like blogging has made me a better person and has opened my eyes and heart in so many different ways. I know that may sound lame, but it's true.
A couple months ago, I came across a post of a friend of a friend who was touched by this amazing woman. She had just lost a baby and after reading about her incredible journey, I was touched. I have kept up with her blog and I feel close to this perfect stranger who doesn't even know who I am. I think about her and her family daily. I pray for them. I have learned so much from this person and I wonder if she has any idea how many lives she has touched.
A week or two ago, a friend posted on her blog about this family who had also experienced a loss. Their 14 month old daughter had drowned in their backyard and their pain was raw. It's amazing to me how small the world becomes when you start blogging. Turns out, I may actually be related to this sweet family. I am in awe as I feel their strength and see their faith. Because of this family's pain, I have been holding my children a little closer.
I cannot even begin to comprehend what the loss of a child would feel like. I pray I never will. I know that the Lord will not give us trials that we cannot handle. I'm just so grateful for the opportunity to be a mother. It is hard, hard work. It's exhausting, frustrating, relentless, but oh so rewarding. My children bring me more joy than I could have ever imagined. Why else would I be having one more? Most of the world would call me crazy, but I call myself blessed.
Thank you all my fellow blogging friends for allowing me to be a part of your life in such a simple, but big way. I learn something from ALL of you and I'm so grateful for your influence in my life. It means more to me than you know.

I feel the same way about blogging. At times I seem to lose my interest but I always come back to it. It has been a wonderful tool for me to journal for our family, as well as serving as a conduit for daily inspiration, humor and education. Thanks also for your thoughts on motherhood. You are a wonderful example and a truly great mother. And I know this from reading your blog! :)
My feelings on blogging are the same as yours. I know that some may call it silly, but I truly feel like blogging has been a blessing in my life. Take you for instance, would we have been able to recconect without this little thing called a blog? Maybe, but it sure would have been a lot harder!
I loved this post not only because it mirrors so many of my own feelings, but because it was so honest and open.
Em, what a wonderful post. You put into words what I feel, as well. I am so thankful I was introduced to blogging. It has been so fun learning how to do it, as well as catching up on others. I too have lots of blogs I stalk with my Google Reader.
You are a great friend, and I miss you, too.
What a nice spin on blogging. To me it just eliminates the middleman for getting gossip. In the olden days you had to talk to people you ran into at the store to find out about people you know. Now you can find out about those people directly from their blog in their own words. It sure makes the gossip more accurate.
This was a wonderful post and those blogs you linked made me cry and feel both sad and grateful...not to mention motivated to do better. Thanks for sharing. LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh you sweet thing. I just feel the same thing. I have read many heart wrenching stories. What a wonderful thing blogging is though. They recieve instant support and love sent out. Prayers are said, and comfort comes from this.
I love to read about you and your happenings in your family. You are so sweet and such a great mother. I love how you are living your life. Your a great example to me. Thank you Emily...
Emily
You have to teach me how to do the cool blog header template! I don't have photo shop so is it hopeless? I know what you mean about the pregnancy hormones...I've been especially beastly today! Only 19 more weeks to go (I hope my husband and child still love me)
Blogging is RAD.
I am a "blogacholic" too. I love reading your blog. You really are an inspiration as a mother and I enjoy reading your thoughts about motherhood and family. You also put such a humorous spin on life.
Blogging really is an amazing invention, if that's the right word. I so enjoy your blog and I hear you about the extra emotion. I'm already there.
I visited both blogs last night, and even though both families had amazingly positive outlooks on their situation, the stories made me incredibly depressed. thanks. (<--that was sarcastic). But reading them renewed an appreciation for the time I get to spend with my kids now, and reminded me to not take anything for granted. thanks. (<--that was genuine). We constantly hear stories on the news here of young kids drowning in pools, and, even worse, getting left in the car and dying from the heat. I hate hearing these stories, but they make me grateful that my kids are safe, happy, and healthy.
lovely post. It made me miss you even more. I love emotional Emmy, mostly I justloved trying to cheer her up or steel her kids away. ok gonna go cry now.
I agree with you about blogging. It's made keeping a journal of my family easy and fun. Sometimes I can be a little shy and blogging has helped me to become more outgoing too. Thanks for posting the blogs of these two women. My heart goes out to them. I can't imagine the pain they've felt and it's inspiring and touching to read their thoughts and see how they are handling their trials and grief.
Emily, You have such a sweet heart. I love your blogs because you are so open and just you!! You are a great friend. I went to the blogs and well got my cries out for the week. I am not pregnant but I am for the most part always emotional!! My poor husband too! I really loved the first link and how this woman recognized the hand of God throughout her trial, loss and grieving period. It just testifies to me God is everywhere and makes me realize whatever I face in my life I can count on Him being there. Thanks for sharing!!
You were my inspiration for starting to blog...that and the PIF. Maybe that's what I need to do to get back in the mood.
That was the saddest post ever! But at the same time, I loved it. It was just what I needed to read. My kids had been driving me CRAZY, and it was a good reminder to appreciate that I get to have those crazy times with them.
I know what you mean....I say,"sure, I know emily matson...well actually..i met her once...but i totally stalk her blog and have seen her kids at the bus stop" :)
