This morning we had our follow-up ultrasound to check on the baby. We saw a different doctor this time. She was the complete opposite of the quack job we saw last time. I wish she had been a little more open and personable, but she was very thorough and we were happy about that. She checked all the anatomy and it all looked perfect. She measured the bones, particularly the arm and thigh bone to see if they were proportional. Apparently that can be a marker for Downs. Baby boy is measuring small and one of his bones was a little small which is a "soft marker" for Downs. The doctor didn't seem too concerned and we have opted out of the amnio, for now. They want to follow me closely and make sure that the baby grows properly. I go back next month for another follow-up. Overall, we are happy.

I'm so happy that the follow up went well. Your baby boy looks fabulous. I love ultrasounds. Yes the babies look like little aliens, but it's just so amazing. I can't get over how gorgeous his spine is. I know that sounds silly, but after Jake, that is the FIRST thing I look at when I see an ultrasound...go figure ;)

That was really an amazing ultrasound. I just can't believe technology sometimes. To be able to our kids before they are born is such a blessing really. Hope everything is going well and we are thinking about that baby and hoping it all goes well for you guys. Happy mothers day Emily.
