I can't let this day go by without recording a few of my thoughts. Not for you, but more for me. It wasn't long ago I was having a conversation with Rob about President Hinckley and I told him how sad it was going to be when he finally passed. I remember thinking, how would I cope? How would I be able to feel the same about the next prophet? After hearing the news last night the only thought that keeps coming to my mind is how very grateful I am for President Hinckley and the legacy that he left. I feel incredibly peaceful about it. I feel happy knowing that he is reunited with his wife and those who have gone before.
President Hinckley became prophet a month before Caleb was born. Caleb took it well after we told him last night, but this morning he was sad and was asking lots of questions. I remember vividly the day that President Kimball died. I remember praying together with our family and feeling confused and sad. I remember my parents explaining to us how the church would go on and continue to be strong. I remember feeling comforted.
I am grateful for the testimony that I have. I am grateful for the peace that we can find through prayer. I am grateful for President Hinckley and all the things that he taught me. I find peace in knowing that he is home.

Meg cried for a couple of hours last night. He's the only prophet that she's known, also. I remember feeling the same way when David O McKay died.
I'm glad he's back with his wife, though...it was obvious he really missed her.
I remember my mother just sobbing when President Kimball died, and I didn't understand quite why. I was very young, and don't think I quite understood the meaning of the word prophet.
I didn't cry, but for a little while last night I was sad. But this morning I woke up with such a feeling of peace and joy. He is happy. He is with his beloved wife, and I know that he will be hard at work there too doing just what he did while here on this earth. Loving the people, and testifying of Christ.
I was sad when I heard the news. I knew someday it would happen. Today I just feel thankful for this gospel and for President Hinckley's example.
Well said. Thanks Emily.
President HInckley must be getting one of the biggest receptions beyond the veil ever known by millions of people who have recieved thier release from spirit prison because of his leadership.
I will miss his cheering attitude, his wisdom, his sterling example, his fortitude to press on.
We are blessed more than we can even realize by his leadership and love.
It wasn't too long ago I was having a similar conversation with LM. He will be very missed but I'm so happy that he finally gets to be with his beautiful wife again. I can't imagine the reunion they had.
Ren is such a cute kid. He loved President Hinckley. Last night he prayed for President Hinckley to "come alive again someday." Ren sure seemed to feel better after that.
I had similar feelings. I thought I would be so sad when he passed but in actuality I had a great feeling of peace about it all. We were all so blessed to have him with us for so long. I know that he must have received quite a reception in heaven.
hi
I know what Rob means, It brought our some really thoughtful conversation for the kids. They all loved him, and are a little sad that he won't be able to do teh temple dedication, but unlike our country, which we are unsure what will happen with each pres., getting a new prpohet is a great thing and we know the gospel will stay the same. That is so comforting to me. He was amazing in life and will be in death, I am sure.
It's been a weird feeling for me, as I have realized that our Prophet has now passed on. I too, and glad that he is with his wife, and I'm sure the celebration up in heaven was amazing. He was a great man, that I loved listening to, and I know we all learned by his example and his love. Nobody can replace him, but I know we all will support and adore the next prophet! Change is good.......
I feel the same way...he was the prophet for our generation!
