Our sweet baby girl had to take a trip to the hospital yesterday. A freakish little thing happened to Rachel. Rob gave her a bath and when he was in the process of getting her dressed he saw that a thread was wrapped around two of her toes. It was wound so tight that the circulation was completely cut off and the tips were swollen. We tried and tried to get the thread off, but it was wound too tight. So, I took her to the emergency room and the doctors couldn't believe it. They said they had never seen a case like that. They too tried to use an instrument to get the thread off, but couldn't do it. They brought in all the ER doctors to get advice and figure out what to do. They ended up having to numb her foot and surgically remove the thread. It was imbeaded so tied that was the only way to get it off. It broke my heart sitting there with her on my lap while they cut into her toes. I left there with blood all over my clothes. It was very traumatic for me. Rob stayed here with the kids, so I was there alone. She had socks on for the past few days, so the thread was probably on there for a couple days. They said that she was very close to losing her pinky toe. Anyway, she is ok now. She was back to her happy self not long after. The doctors said her foot would probably be numb for a couple days. That's probably a good thing. We are so grateful that our sweet baby girl is OK.
